Cherish
Prompt 03.28
Over the past year, how often did you say the words that matter most—I love you, I’m proud of you, I’m grateful you’re in my life—to the people who’ve known you the longest? Partners, parents, kids, siblings… the inner circle we sometimes assume already knows how we feel.
Here’s the thing: familiarity can quietly breed emotional laziness. We text about logistics, we trade small talk, we show up—but do we really say what counts?
Think about the moments you did express love or appreciation—how it softened the air, deepened connection, maybe even caught someone off guard in the best way. Now think about the moments you missed. Not with guilt, but with clarity. Because there’s no statute of limitations on affection—you can always pick up the thread.
In the coming year, how might you make “cherishing” a habit, more than just a holiday sentiment? A weekly call. A handwritten note. A passing compliment that lingers longer than you’d expect.
When it comes to the people who shape us, love unspoken is love unfelt. Let them feel it. Let them know—again and again—that they matter.
