Aperture
Prompt 09.15
Today’s question: What would you notice if you treated everyone you meet as if you might be wrong about them?
Assumptions are quick. People are slow to unfold. When we rush, we project a story and miss the person. Real connection asks for a little time. It asks for attention to tone, timing, and context. It asks us to let someone finish before we decide who they are.
Why this helps: curiosity short-circuits judgment. It reduces conflict, reveals strengths, and gives relationships room to grow. When you lead with “maybe,” you invite the other person to bring more of themselves to the moment.
Try this today: when you catch a snap judgment, say “maybe” to yourself. Ask one open question. Wait three breaths before you respond. Look for one piece of evidence that does not fit your first impression. The resonance you want may already be there, waiting for you to notice.
